The grass is always greener
These last few Days, weeks I didn’t really had a lot to write about. Maybe because all this stuff over here just feels like kind of normal to me. So I see it as a good thing. But I found some new inspiration and here it comes.
First of all I’m going back to Lengkong from 8 to 11 may. So It’ll be shitting in the river shower again. And yes it is the most primitive I’ve ever been when I’m there. But seriously it’s not so bad as it sounds. It’s 5 days with no cellphone and it kind of feels free. Honestly no, I do not see myself living as that. But it feels way more as a holiday then laying on the beach for 14 days and doing nothing. But let’s not forget I’m going there for the Silvery Gibbon. For my research I’ve been put in a whole new discovered forest. Sure the people who lived there knew it existed. But the forestry department didn’t knew. So no one was taking care of it. No one knows what animals live in there of what plants grow there. So that’s my job. Find out! Don’t worry mom I’m pretty sure there are no leopard, honestly!
Last week one of the volunteers spotted a cobra outside of the sleeping area. One of the cats was trying to fight with it. So it’s is just as dangerous here as it is anywhere. And even if the danger is luring after every corner, I’ve never felt this free. Yesterday evening I saw two civets. A mother and a baby. I came out of the quarantine at around eight. And the first thing you obviously do when it’s dark is looking for reflecting eyes with your light. And for the first time since I’ve been here I found them. Two eyes staring back at me in the trees. Okey I’ll admit my heart skipped a beat. When I saw the eyes at first. Because I had no idea what it was. And then I saw another pair of eyes. But as I walked closer I could see it was a small animal. And when they both climbed down from the three and disappeared in the bush I could see It was a mother a baby civet. It was amazing! I saw a wild serpent eagle last week. And a freaking big scorpion during a heavy rain fall. It was the size of my foot! So yes live is pretty awesome!
I think that’s all for now. I bet I’ll have some new writing material when I come back from Lengkong and the river toilet!
